SCURVY

16yrs old male was admitted with weakness, lower limb weakness, fever and bleeding from nose. No previous h/o fever or bleeding. Patient had severe thrombocytopenia. Patient had ulcerated gums. Patient was given two units of BT and empirical steroids. Patient showed gradual recovery. Patient probably has scurvy. Patient feeling better with treatment. Hospital stay uneventful. Though its very rare to see scurvy in todays population but still the diagnosis is supported by weakness of muscles, ulceration of gums and history of bleeding.

SONOGRAPHY A/P-Minimal free fluild is seen in RIF.Excessive gases are seen in colonic region. No other significant abnormality is seen in the abdomen and pelvis.
